Looking Back: An International Retrospective, Part 1, opening reception

Join us Thursday, 14 September (5:00–7:00 p.m.) for the opening reception of our fall exhibition, Looking Back: An International Retrospective, Part 1. To celebrate the upcoming 60th anniversary of our International Exhibition of Botanical Art & Illustration series, we are having a two-part retrospective exhibition in fall 2023 and spring 2024 featuring some of the 1,212 artists who have been included in the series since 1964. The fall 2023 exhibition, Looking Back: An International Retrospective, Part 1, includes works by 46 artists from the first eight Internationals. At 5:30 p.m. in the gallery the curators will introduce the exhibition. The reception is free and open to the public.
About the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation
The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, a research division of Carnegie Mellon University, specializes in the history of botany and all aspects of plant science and serves the international scientific community through research and documentation. To this end, the Institute acquires and maintains authoritative collections of books, plant images, manuscripts, portraits and data files, and provides publications and other modes of information service. The Institute meets the reference needs of botanists, biologists, historians, conservationists, librarians, bibliographers and the public at large, especially those concerned with any aspect of the North American flora.
